Masters Degree Landscape Architecture

Cover Letter

I entered the field of Landscape Architecture almost ten years ago, arriving at it from a background which included working in arbors, orchards, and state parks, and seven years working for radio and television

As a student, and later employee of, the University of Colorado my focus was on recreational planning for inner-city elementary schools, eventually taking on the roll of graduate assistant, studio co-teacher, grant writer/researcher, and accreditation assistant.

My first private practice employment was with Stantec Engineering in Reno, Nevada designing and preparing construction documents for Reno City parks and highways. Following that I was employed by Wood+Partners Land Planning and Landscape Architecture on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, to research and analyze site data, create and assess large scale lands use plans, design site specific areas, and create construction documents for final contractor bidding. With Wood+Partners I worked primarily on large scale residential PUDs, mixed-use urban developments, and resort amenity facilities.

Throughout my education, work history, and personal life I have always focused on the outdoor experience, whether guiding people through it, recreating in it, or designing and crafting the experience for others. I have spent many years in private employment and worked on numerous projects which integrated the natural environment with the needs of the public.
